Multi-Function Switch Test

Should any function of the multi-function switch fail, the entire switch assembly must be replaced. Refer to Multi-Function Switch.

SWITCH DIAGNOSIS

To test the switch:

Fig.5 Battery Negative Cable Remove/Install:




1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
2. Remove the upper and lower steering column shrouds. Refer to Instrument Panel Systems, Removal and Installation, Steering Column Shrouds.
3. Disconnect the switch connector.

Using an ohmmeter, test for continuity (no resistance) between the terminals of the switch as shown in the Multi-Function Switch Continuity Test table for diagnosis. Refer to,, and for connector terminal locations.
