Battery Cable: Service and Repair

NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE
REMOVAL

1. Open hood.
2. Remove Battery.
3. Remove Battery Tray.

4. Remove one nut retaining ground strap to left inner fender (Fig. 12).
5. Remove one negative battery cable retaining bolt at transmission.
6. Remove negative battery cable from engine compartment and vehicle.

INSTALLATION
1. Place negative battery cable into engine compartment.
2. Install one negative battery cable retaining bolt at transmission.
3. Install one nut retaining ground strap to left inner fender.
4. Install Battery Tray.
5. Install Battery.
6. Close hood.
7. Verify operation of vehicle and systems.

POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE
REMOVAL

1. Set vehicle on hoist.
2. Open hood.
3. Remove Battery.
4. Remove Battery Tray.
5. Remove Power Distribution Center (PDC) cover.
6. Remove two 10 mm nuts retaining positive battery cable to PDC.
7. Remove the tape retaining the positive battery cable to the plastic fastener near the transmission.
8. Hoist vehicle.
9. Remove one bolt holding transmission cooler line to structural support.
10. Remove the positive battery cable to starter solenoid retaining nut.
11. Remove positive battery cable from engine compartment and vehicle.

INSTALLATION
1. Install positive battery cable into engine compartment.
2. Install the positive battery cable to starter solenoid retaining nut.
3. Install one bolt holding transmission cooler line to structural support.
4. Lower vehicle.
5. Install the tape retaining the positive battery cable to the plastic fastener near the transmission.
6. Install two 10 mm nuts retaining positive battery cable to PDC.
7. Install Power Distribution Center (PDC) cover.
8. Install Battery Tray.
9. Install Battery.
10. Close hood.
11. Verify operation of vehicle and systems.
12. Remove vehicle from hoist.
