SUBJECT:
Loss of Power, Squealing/Aspiration Sound, MIL Illumination

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves replacing the intake inlet hose.

MODELS:

2002 (PG) PT Cruiser

NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 2.5L DIESEL (SALES CODE EDJ).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Customer may describe a loss of power, sucking/squealing sound, and/or MIL Illumination with Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0243 - Turbocharger Wastegate Solenoid Circuit Negative Deviation.

DIAGNOSIS:

If the customer describes the Symptom/Condition, inspect the intake inlet hose. If inspection reveals the hose is cracked or split, perform Repair Procedure.





PARTS REQUIRED:

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Open hood.





2. Loosen the upper clamp on the intake inlet hose (Item 1) (Fig. 1).

3. Using a suitable tool, release the clip at the lower intake inlet hose connection to the EGR mixing chamber (Item 4) (Fig. 1).

4. Remove the hose.

5. Clean the intake manifold nipple to be sure that it is clean and dry before installing new intake inlet hose.

6. Apply a solution of soapy water to the o-ring and collar for easier assembly.

7. Install the new intake inlet hose (p/n 050B0430AA).

NOTE:
BE SURE THE NEW HOSE HAS ZGS003 PRINTED ON THE HOSE. HOSES MARKED ZGS001 SHOULD BE RETURNED THROUGH NORMAL PARTS CHANNELS.

8. Be sure the lower intake inlet hose retainer clip is in position and the intake inlet hose cannot be pulled out of the EGR mixing chamber.

9. Tighten the upper clamp on the intake inlet hose at the intake manifold to 3 Nm (26 in. lbs.).

10. Clear DTCs
