Passenger Seat Belt Tensioner Circuit








WHEN MONITORED
The Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) monitors the Passenger Seat Belt Tensioner Switch Sense circuit.

SET CONDITION
The DTC will set if the ORC detects high voltage.

POSSIBLE CAUSES
- Passenger seat belt tensioner switch sense circuit short
- Passenger seat belt tensioner switch
- Occupant restraint controller

Diagnostic Test




1. READ DTCs WITH THE DRB III(R)

NOTE:
- When reconnecting the Airbag System components, the ignition must be turned off and the battery must be disconnected.
- Ensure the battery is fully charged.

WARNING: TURN THE IGNITION OFF, DISCONNECT THE BATTERY AND WAIT TWO MINUTES BEFORE PROCEEDING. Disconnect the Passenger Seat Belt Tensioner Switch connector.

NOTE: Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary. Connect a jumper wire at the Passenger Seat Belt Tensioner Switch connector.

WARNING: TURN THE IGNITION ON, THEN RECONNECT THE BATTERY. With the DRB III(R), read the DTCs.

Q: Does the DRB III(R) display a Passenger Seat Belt Tensioner Switch DTC?

YES: Go to 2
NO: Replace the Passenger Seat Belt Tensioner Switch. Perform AIRBAG VERIFICATION TEST. Verification Tests




2. MEASURE THE VOLTAGE OF THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT TENSIONER SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT

NOTE: When reconnecting the Airbag System components, the ignition must be turned off and the battery must be disconnected.

WARNING: TURN THE IGNITION OFF, DISCONNECT THE BATTERY AND WAIT TWO MINUTES BEFORE PROCEEDING.

Disconnect the ORC connector.
Disconnect the Passenger Seat Belt Tensioner Switch connector.

NOTE: Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.

WARNING: TURN THE IGNITION ON, THEN RECONNECT THE BATTERY.

Measure the voltage of the Passenger Seat Belt Tensioner Switch Sense circuit at the Passenger Seat Belt Tensioner Switch harness connector.

Q: Is voltage present?

YES: Repair the Passenger Seat Belt Tensioner Switch Sense circuit for a short to voltage. Perform AIRBAG VERIFICATION TEST. Verification Tests
NO: Replace the Occupant Restraint Controller.

WARNING: IF THE OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER DROPPED AT ANY TIME, IT MUST BE REPLACED.

Perform AIRBAG VERIFICATION TEST. Verification Tests
