Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Courtesy Lamp Switch/Unit

The courtesy lamps (1) provide overhead interior illumination when the doors are opened and the courtesy lamp defeat switch (3) in the "" position, or when the courtesy lamp switch (2) is pressed. The courtesy lamp defeat switch (3) can prevent the courtesy lamps operation when the doors are opened if the "0" position is selected. The courtesy lamp switch/unit cannot be adjusted or repaired. If faulty, worn, or damaged, the entire assembly must be replaced. For complete courtesy lamp switch/unit removal procedures, see courtesy lamp switch/unit removal.

Regardless of the ignition switch position, the courtesy lamps illuminate when either door is opened if the courtesy lamp defeat switch is in the "" position, or the courtesy lamp switch is pressed. Non-switched power is supplied through Fuse 9 in the Underhood Accessory Fuse Block, and ground is provided by the Body Control Module.
