Removal and Replacement

LATCH

REMOVAL




1. Open and support the hood.
2. Mark the location of the hood latch (2) on the upper radiator support (1) with a grease pencil or other suitable device to provide reference marks for reinstallation.
3. Remove the two stud bolts (3) that secure the hood latch to upper radiator support.




4. Remove the hood latch (2) from the upper radiator support to gain access to the hood latch release cable (1).
5. Remove the cable housing from the latch and disconnect the cable ball from the lever and remove the latch.

INSTALLATION




1. Position the hood latch (2) close enough to the front of the upper radiator support to access and connect the cable ball of the hood latch release cable (1) to the latch lever and install the cable housing to the latch.




2. Position the latch (2) to the upper radiator support (1).
3. Loosely install the two stud bolts (3) that secure the latch to the upper radiator support.
4. Align the latch to the radiator using the previously marked locations and tighten the retaining bolts to to 28 N.m (21 ft. lbs.).
5. Verify hood alignment and latch operation. The hood should have even gaps aligned to 4 mm (0.160 in.) to the adjacent body panels.
