SUBJECT:
Trunk Carpet Fit
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves installing hook and loop fasteners to the trunk carpet and body.
MODELS:
2006 (LX) 300
NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or prior to September 30, 2005 (MDH 0930XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Trunk trim/carpet falls away from the deck lid opening seal adjacent to tail lamps.
DIAGNOSIS:
Visually inspect the trunk trim/carpet adjacent to tail lamps, if it is not against the body perform the Repair Procedure.
PARTS REQUIRED:
SPECIAL TOOLS/EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Separate dual lock fastener strips, if connected.
2. Remove backing from the adhesive tape on one fastener strip and attach it to the backside of trunk trim/carpet at inside upper rear corner, (Fig. 1).
3. Staple the fastener strip to the trim/carpet at the top, middle and bottom of the fastener strip, (Fig. 1).
4. Attach mating fastener strip to the carpet mounted fastener strip and remove backing from the adhesive.
5. Press the trim/carpet/fastener assembly in place assuring that trunk trim/carpet tucks under the lip of the deck lid seal.
6. Repeat steps 1-5 for other side of deck lid opening trim/carpet.
