Knock Sensor: Service and Repair
SENSOR-KNOCKThe knock sensor bolts into the side of the cylinder block in front of the starter under the intake manifold.
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the bolt holding the knock sensor
3. Remove sensor with electrical connector attached.
4. Disconnect electrical connector from knock sensor.
5. Remove the knock sensor.
INSTALLATION
1. Attach electrical connector to knock sensor.
2. Install knock sensor. Tighten knock sensor bolt to 22 N.m (195 in. lbs.) torque. Over or under tightening effects knock sensor performance, possibly causing improper spark control.
3. Connect the negative battery cable.
