Bell Housing: Service and Repair

CLUTCH BELLHOUSING

DISASSEMBLY





1. Using suitable punch/drift (1), remove input shaft seal (2) and discard.





2. Remove output shaft roller bearing (2).





3. Using Remover/Installer 8868 (1), drive out shift shaft needle bearing (2) and discard.





4. Using Tools 8915 (1) and Remover 8913 (2), remove differential bearing cup (3) from clutch bellhousing.





5. Using Brace Tool 8915 (1) and Remover 8912 (2), remove input shaft roller bearing (3) from clutch bellhousing.





6. Using Brace Tool 8915 (1) Remover 8913 (2), remove output shaft bearing race (3). from clutch bellhousing.

ASSEMBLY





1. Install differential bearing select shim (1) into clutch bellhousing pocket.





2. Using Installer 8866 (2) and Handle C-4171 (1), install differential bearing cup (3) into clutch bellhousing until cup bottoms into bore.





3. Position input shaft bearing (1) to bore with letters outward (2).





4. Using Installer 8921(2) and Handle C-4171(1), install input shaft roller bearing (3) until it bottoms in bore.





5. Install output shaft bearing race (1) to bore. Orient smaller inside diameter downward (toward case) (2).





6. Using Installer 8871 (2) and Handle C-4171(1), install output shaft bearing race (3) until it bottoms in bore.





7. Using appropriate end of Remover/Installer 8868 (2), install shift shaft ball bearing (1) until tool bottoms on case.





8. Using Installer 8864 (1), install input shaft (2) oil seal until tool bottoms on case.
