Synchronizer

SYNCHRONIZER

REMOVAL
1. To remove the 1/2 synchronizer assembly, the intermediate shaft must be disassembled.
2. To remove the 3/4 or 5th gear synchronizer assembly, the input shaft must be disassembled.
3. To remove the reverse gear synchronizer assembly, the reverse shaft must be disassembled.

DISASSEMBLY





1. Remove synchronizer sleeve (2). Three synchronizer strut assemblies (3) will free from hub (1).
2. Inspect all components for wear and replace as necessary.

INSPECTION





1. Install blocker ring (1) to gear. Using feeler gauge (5), measure wear limit (between blocker ring (1) and gear (4).

VISUAL INSPECTION
- Inspect for scuffed, nicked, burred, broken teeth, or general wear
- Inspect strut assemblies for wear, distortion, and functionality of ball and spring.

ASSEMBLY





1. Install synchronizer sleeve (2) to synchronizer hub (1). Install three (3) strut assemblies.

INSTALLATION
1. Install 1/2 synchronizer assembly.
2. Install 3/4 or 5th gear synchronizer assembly.
3. Install reverse gear synchronizer assembly.
