Blower Motor Resistor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
WARNING: THE BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR MAY GET VERY HOT DURING NORMAL OPERATION. IF THE BLOWER MOTOR WAS TURNED ON PRIOR TO SERVICING THE BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR, WAIT FIVE MINUTES TO ALLOW THE BLOWER MOTOR RESISTORS TO COOL BEFORE PERFORMING DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. FAILURE TO TAKE THIS PRECAUTION CAN RESULT IN POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.
CAUTION: Do not operate the blower motor with the blower motor resistor removed from the circuit. Failure to take this precaution can result in vehicle damage.
1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the passenger side cowl grille screen.
3. Remove the blower motor resistor (1) from the dash panel by pulling the blower motor resistor straight out from the dash panel to disengage the two retaining tabs.
4. Disengage the connector lock and disconnect the wire harness connector (2) from the blower motor resistor.
INSTALLATION
1. Connect the wire harness connector (2) to the blower motor resistor (1) and engage the connector lock.
2. Install the blower motor resistor (1) into the dash panel in the engine compartment. Make sure the retaining tabs are fully engaged to the dash panel.
3. Install the passenger side cowl grille screen.
4. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
