BCM-Courtesy Lamp 1 Output Short







BCM-COURTESY LAMP 1 OUTPUT SHORT

- When Monitored:
Ignition and Courtesy Lamps on.

- Set Condition:
BCM detects the output driver status low.





Diagnostic Test

1. INTERMITTENT CONDITION
Turn the ignition on.
With the Scan Tool, erase all BCM DTCs.
Turn the Courtesy lamps on.
With the Scan Tool, read the active DTCs.
Does the Scan Tool display Courtesy Lamp 1 Output Short?

Yes

- Go To2

No

- The condition that caused this symptom is currently not present. Check for an intermittent condition by inspecting the related wiring harness for chafed, pierced, pinched, and partially broken wires. Also, inspect the related connectors for broken, bent, pushed out, spread, corroded, or contaminated terminals. Repair as necessary.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.

2. OVERHEAD CONSOLE
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Overhead Console harness connector.
Turn ignition on.
With the Scan Tool, read the active BCM DTCs.
Does the Scan Tool display Overhead Lamp 1 Output Short?

Yes

- Go To3

No

Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.

3. (M27) COURTESY LAMP 1 OUTPUT CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND




Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the BCM C3 harness connector.
Disconnect the Overhead Console harness connector.
Measure the resistance between ground and the (M27) Courtesy Lamp 1 Output circuit.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?

Yes

- Repair the (M27) Courtesy Lamp 1 Output circuit for a short to ground.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.

No

- Replace and program the Body Control Module.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test.
