Disassembly







DISASSEMBLY





NOTE: If valve body assembly is being reconditioned, the PCM/TCM Quick Learn Procedure must be performed Quick Learn Procedure.

1. Remove manual shaft seal (1).




2. Remove Transmission Range Sensor retaining screw (3).




3. Remove manual shaft/rooster comb (3)and Transmission Range Sensor (1).




4. Remove 2/4 accumulator retaining plate (1).




5. Remove 2/4 accumulator components (2, 3, 4, 5 and 6).




6. Remove valve body (3) to transfer plate (2) screws (1).




7. Invert assembly and remove transfer plate (1). Beware of loose check balls.




8. Remove oil screen (1).




9. Remove the overdrive clutch (#5) check valve (1).




10. Remove separator plate (1).




11. Remove thermal valve (1).




12. Remove check balls, ball check location (#1), ball check location (#4), ball check location (#2), retainer (3), ball check location (#3), low/reverse switch valve (5) and t/c limit valve (6).




NOTE: Tag all valve/spring assemblies for reassembly identification.

13. Remove dual retainer plate (2) using Remover/Installer 6301 (1).




14. Remove regulator valve spring retainer (2) using Remover/Installer 6302 (1).




15. Remove remaining retainers (1, 2).




16. Remove valves and springs.

NOTE: Refer to Valve Body Cleaning and Inspection for cleaning procedures.
