Power Third Row Seat Back Stuck in the Upright or Folded Position
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves replacing the motor side outboard recliner on the third row power folding seats.
MODELS:
2008 (RI) Town & Country/Grand Caravan
NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles with sales codes (JRJ) and built before December 6, 2007 (MDH 1206XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
DIAGNOSIS:
If the customer describes this condition, perform the Repair Procedure.
PARTS REQUIRED:
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Open the tailgate.
2. Remove the 60 and/or 40 percent stow and go seat with the issue from the vehicle. Refer to the detailed removal procedures in DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT under: Service info > 23-Body > Seats, Third Row, Power Folding > Seat > Removal.
3. Remove the recliner cover.
4. Slide the cursor on the zipper forward and access the inner seat back.
5. Remove the four screws on the lower seat back steel plate (Fig 1).
6. Remove the four mounting bolts on the outboard recliner (Fig 2)
7. Install the new motor side outboard recliner
8. Install the lower seat back steel plate.
9. Install the recliner cover.
10. Re-Install the seat. Refer to the detailed installation procedures in DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT under: Service info > 23-Body > Seats, Third Row, Power Folding > Seat > Installation.
NOTE:
Recliner End Of Travel Calibration routine found under Miscellaneous Functions must be performed after replacement using the scan tool. Ensure all four power 3rd row seat leg latches are latched prior to performing this routine. This can be accomplished by manually pushing the seat down until latches are closed.
