Combination Switch: Description and Operation

DESCRIPTION

The clockspring mounting bracket provides mounting support for the multi-function switch and the adjustable pedal switch, (If equipped) both of which can be removed from the clockspring mounting bracket and are available for individual service replacement. When combined, these components are sometimes referred to as the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM). The multi-function switch includes the switch control stalk, a dedicated connector receptacle as well as an internal electronic circuit board and a microprocessor that is also known as the Steering Control Module (SCM). The SCM within the multi-function switch is a Local Interface Network (LIN) slave and communicates over a dedicated LIN bus circuit with the ElectroMechanical Instrument Cluster (EMIC) (also known as the Cab Compartment Node/CCN), which is the LIN master. The SCM is not flash update capable. The adjustable pedal switch has an integral connector receptacle and is a hard wired circuit component. The mult-function switch controls the turn signals, the head lamp beam select, front wipers and wash features and the rear wipe and wash functions.
