Restraints System Verification Test
RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST
PERFORM THE RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST
WARNING: On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, you must thoroughly read and follow all High Voltage Safety procedures. In addition, before performing any diagnostic or service procedure near a high voltage component, you must perform the High Voltage Power Down. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury
1. Remove all special tools and jumper wires and reconnect all previously disconnected components, except the 12-volt battery and high voltage battery Manual Service Disconnect.
WARNING: Turn the ignition on, then reconnect the 12-volt battery. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
2. Connect the scan tool to the Data Link Connector - use the most current software available.
3. With the scan tool erase stored DTCs in the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC).
4. If equipped with an Airbag On - Off switch, read the DTCs in all switch positions.
5. Exercise the Restraints System to duplicate the appropriate monitor conditions for any DTCs that were set.
6. Turn the ignition off, and wait 1five seconds, then turn the ignition on.
7. Wait one minute, using the scan tool read active ORC DTCs and if there are none present read the stored codes.
8. If the scan tool shows any active or stored codes, follow path specified for that trouble code. If no active or stored codes are present, the repair is complete.
Are any DTCs present or is the original condition still present?
