Front Lower Control Arm Bushings - Removal






REMOVAL

Special Tools:











1. Raise and support vehicle. Service and Repair

2. Remove wheel mounting nuts , then tire and wheel assembly Tires And Wheels - Removal.

3. With the vehicle's brakes applied to keep hub from turning, loosen the halfshaft nut (2).

4. Remove the nut (2) from the halfshaft (1) to allow the halfshaft to be pushed in.





5. If left side lower control arm bushing is being serviced and vehicle is equipped with 62TE (6-speed) automatic transaxle, perform the following:

a. Remove front and rear engine mount thru-bolts (4 - front shown - rear similar).

b. Rotate the lower portion of the engine and transaxle forward.

c. With the engine and transaxle in this position, perform the next step.





6. Remove front bolt (1) attaching lower control arm (2) to crossmember (4).

7. Remove rear bolt (3) and nut attaching lower control arm (2) to crossmember (4).

8. Remove lower control arm (2) from the engine cradle.





9. Using (10141) along with (8839), and adapters (10141-4), (2), (10141) 2-1 (3), and (10141) 2-2 (4), press the bushing out of the lower control arm.
