Headlamp Aiming

Important: Check and adjust, if necessary, headlamp aiming whenever a headlamp assembly is replaced or the vehicle has been in a collision. If the headlamp cannot be properly adjusted, replace the headlamp.

Check Points & Before Aiming
- Remove any snow, ice or mud attached to the vehicle.
- Tires should be properly inflated.
- The vehicle shall be normally loaded with a full tank of fuel and person or equivalent weight on the driver's seat.
- Let the vehicle be swayed and calmdown so that the vehicle get into a steady state.

Preparations
- The vehicle shall be placed so all four tires are on a perfectly level surface which is level all the way to the wall or other flat surface.
- The vehicle shall be placed so it is perpendicular to the wall or other flat surface.
- Place the vehicle so that the headlamps are 25 ft (7.6 m) away from a light colored wall or other flat surface in a dark area.
- Open and support the hood.
- Find the low beam center mark (as shown in the figure) on the lens of the lamps and measure the height (H) from ground to the low beam center mark.
The low beam center mark is on the surface of the lens more outer than the high beam center mark.
- Mark the height of low beam center (HV point) on the wall or other flat surface.

- Mark a horizontal line and vertical line on the wall or other flat surface at the height of low beam center mark.
- Mark shape line parallel with horizontal line & vertical line at 4 in.(100 mm) intervals on the wall or other flat surface.

Note: Headlamp aiming should be done with the low beam lamp. The high beam lamps will be correctly aimed if the low beam lamps are aimed properly.

Vertical (Up/Down) Aiming Procedures
1. Turn on the low beam headlamps and mark horizontal line & vertical line around high intensity zone as figure. This line is called "Cut Off Line".
2. Adjust the vertical aiming screw with a "+" screw driver so that LINE A (horizontal line of cut off line) shall be placed within 4 in. (100 mm) upward and downward from the horizontal axis of HV point.
3. Close the hood carefully and verify that the hood is securely closed.

Horizontal (Left/Right) Aiming Procedures
1. Turn on the low beam headlamps and mark horizontal line & vertical line around high intensity zone as figure. This line is called "Cut Off Line".
2. Detach horizontal aiming hold cap to be placed outside of a headlamps.
3. Adjust the horizontal aiming driver with a "+" screw driver so that LINE B (vertical line of cut off line) shall be placed within 4 in. (100 mm) right and left from the vertical axis of HV point.
4. Close the hood carefully and verify that the hood is securely closed.
