REPAIR PROCEDURE

CAUTION: WHEN REMOVING CHOKE COVER GRIND OFF RIVET HEADS FROM SCREWS, DO NOT DRILL OUT RIVETS, OR SCREWS WILL BREAK AFFECTING CHOKE ADJUSTMENT.

A. ^ Remove primary main jet and install new jet (#110) - (Figures 5-A and 5-B).

^ Remove secondary main jet and install new jet (#175) - (Figures 5-A and 5-B).

5-C - SERVICING AIR BLEED JETS:

^ Remove primary air jet and install new jet (#110) - (Figure 5-C).

^ Remove secondary air jet and install new jet (#120) - (Figure 5-C).

FIGURE 6A:

FIGURE 6B:

^ Remove power valve jet cover (Figure 6-A) and remove power valve jet (Figure 6-B). Install new power valve jet (#55).

FIGURE 5-D:

FIGURE 5-E:

B. Remove the 4-second vacuum delay valve, PN 4167046 or 4173433, from the EGR valve. Disconnect the delay valve from the upper vacuum hose and remove valve and rubber connector from the EGR valve side connector. Reconnect the free end of the 3/16" vacuum line left remaining on the EGR valve to the vacuum nipple on the side of the EGR valve (Figures 5-D and 5-E).

FIGURE 7:

C. ^ With a piece of tape, mark the shank end of a 3/16" drill bit a distance of 1-1/4" from the end. Remove the carburetor fuel inlet hose and insert the fuel inlet orifice, PN 4418021, with the drill bit to a depth of 1-1/4". Reinstall the fuel inlet hose (Figure 7).
^ Cut two pieces of 3/16" diameter vacuum hose (serviced in bulk PN 4105167) into the following lengths, 2" and 32".

FIGURE 8:

^ Make an overlay harness using the two pieces of cut vacuum hose, the vacuum bleed-off valve, vacuum delay valve, and the vacuum tee (Figure 8).

FIGURE 9:

^ Locate the blue striped vacuum signal hose to the vapor canister on the right inside fender. At the suitable location, cut out a 4" long section of the blue striped vacuum hose. Insert the free nipple of the delay valve from the overlay harness assembled into the blue striped vacuum signal hose remaining on the vapor canister. Insert the free nipple of the vacuum bleed-off valve into the other side of the blue striped vacuum signal hose (Figure 9).

^ Locate the vacuum tree under the carburetor. Route the remaining vacuum hose from the overlay harness to the vacuum tree, and tie wrap it to the existing harness. For vehicles with air conditioning, use the supplied vacuum tee, PN 3671410, to tee into the vacuum line which comes from the bottom of the vacuum tree. For vehicles without air conditioning, remove the rubber cap from the nipple on the bottom of the vacuum tree and connect the 32" vacuum hose from the overlay assembly from Step C (Figure 9).

D. Inspect the fuel reservoir. If a fuel reservoir is on the vehicle, proceed to Step #E. If no fuel reservoir is on the vehicle, then remove and discard the fuel hose connecting the fuel pump to the carburetor (Figure 10). Install the fuel reservoir, PN MD082109, supplied in the kit (Figure 11). Connect the fuel reservoir to the fuel pump and the carburetor, using fuel lines supplied (Figure 11).
E. Set new idle specifications as follows:

Curb Idle Speed 850 RPM
Propane Speed 950 RPM
Fast Idle 1300 RPM
A/C Idle Up 900 RPM

F. Type "This vehicle has been updated with Altitude Emissions Package, PN 4419426," on the Authorized Modification Label, PN 4275086, and place near the existing VECI label.
