2E Vacuum Solenoid Control

1. Turn the ignition switch Off.
2. Disconnect the 60-way connector from the SMEC.
3. Connect a voltmeter to the X-36 tan/red wire in cavity No. 53 of the 60-way connector and ground.
4. Turn the ignition switch to the Run position.
5. If voltmeter is reading battery voltage, replace the SMEC.
CAUTION: Before replacing the SMEC, check the X-36 terminal in cavity No. 53 of the 60-way connector to make sure it is not damaged causing a poor connection.
6. If voltmeter reads 0 volts, repair X-36 tan/red wire of cavity No. 53 for an open circuit to the speed control servo connector.
