SYMPTOM/CONDITION

On some vehicles, built prior to July 4, 1988, the fuel filler door cable may become loose and disengage from the hook.

DIAGNOSIS

This condition may be caused by excess sealant around the hook installation hole at the inner quarter panel.

PARTS REQUIRED

1 Hook, Fuel Filler Door MB02 3245



REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Disconnect the cable from the hook, as shown below.
2. Remove the excess sealant from around the hook installation hole.

NOTE: TAKE CARE NOT TO DAMAGE THE PAINT WHEN REMOVING THE EXCESS SEALER.
3. If required, install a new fuel filler door hook as described on page 23-51 of Volume 1 in the 1989 Colt/Summit Import Service Manual.
