Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Description and Operation

The Air Flow Sensor is located within the air induction filter housing. The Karman Vortex type sensor measures the flow rate of the incoming air. The Air Flow Sensor transmits a frequency signal which becomes disrupted in proportion to the amount of air being drawn in through the Air Flow Sensor. The Control Unit monitors this signal, along with other signals, to calculate injector pulse width for the air/fuel ratio adjustments.
