Stalls at Idle, Deceleration

Engine stalls at stops and on deceleration.

POSSIBLE CAUSE ACTION


EGR valve loose or sticking 1. Check EGR system in "Testing
plunger, flange gasket leaking, Procedures" in Emissions, if OK, step 2
solenoid and thermo valves 2. Check EGR electronic controls in
malfunctioning "Fuel Injection & Computerized Engine Controls"




Ignition timing Check Ignition Timing in "Adjustment
Procedures" in Emissions



Restricted exhaust system Check Catalytic Converter system in
"Testing Procedure" in Emissions



Idle speed too low 1. Check and adjust idle speed in
"Adjustment Procedures" in Emissions
2. Check operation of any idle speed
control devices



Vacuum leak 1. Inspect vacuum hoses for
routing and damaged lines
2. Check intake manifold area
