Vehicle List, Parts & Owner Information

Vehicle List

A vehicle list was provided for each dealer to whom involved vehicles were invoiced (or for the current dealer at the same location) with the original dealer notification letter for this recall. The list is arranged in Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) sequence. Owners known to Chrysler are also listed. The lists are for dealer reference in arranging for service of involved vehicles.

Each Dodge or Chrysler-Plymouth dealer without a Vehicle List will receive an information copy of this letter by Compak Mail for use in performing the service on involved vehicles upon request.

Parts

A. Seat Belt Reinforcement Plate Package

Important: Recall parts packages are being billed to involved dealers in accordance with the recently announced Recall Parts Pricing policy.

A limited quantity of reinforcement plate packages have been distributed initially to all involved dealers. As this quantity will be only a portion of the total parts requirement, dealers must order additional parts as neecled to support customer demand.

A. Seat Belt Reinforcement Plate Package (Continued)

There are two seat belt reinforcement plate packages, PN C3940430 for 1990 model year vehicles and PN C3940431 for 1989 models.

Each involved dealer, to whom vehicles in the recall were invoiced (or the current dealer at the same location), has been shipped enough of the applicable reinforcement plate packages to service 25 % of those vehicles. Each uninvolved dealer will receive (5) of each package.

The following components are included in each package:

Part No. Year Quantity Description

C3940430 1990 (2) Reinforcement plate, angled

(2) Reinforcement plate, flat

Note: Flat washers have been added to all packages beginning in June 1991.

See revised Service Procedure (item B 4) in this letter for washer installation instructions.

1989 models require only angled reinforcement plates. For 1990 models, use angled or flat reinforcement plates as required for the vehicle being serviced.

Owner Notification and Service Scheduling

All involved vehicle owners known to Chrysler are being notified of the service requirement by first class mail. Notifications are being mailed in stages as sufficient parts become available. Owners are requested to schedule appointments for the service with their dealers at the earliest possible date. A copy of the owner notification letter is attached.

Enclosed with each owner notification is an Owner Recall Notification Form. The involved vehicle and recall are identified on the form for owner or dealer reference as needed.
