>> SYMPTOM/CONDITION: <<
Vehicles equipped with an A-604 transaxle (Trans S/N KXXX-0891-XXXX), built prior to May 23, 1991, may exhibit lighting of the back up lamps while the vehicle is being driven with the gear selector in the overdrive position. This condition is intermittent and may not be accompanied by fault codes. Continued driving with this condition may cause clutch failure (most likely the 2-4 clutch).
In addition to the back up lamps coming on when the vehicle is being driven with the selector in the overdrive position, the following symptoms may also exist:
^ Transaxle clutch drag.
^ Slowing of the vehicle.
^ Vehicle shudder (AWD vehicles only).
If the customer complains of any of these symptoms, perform the Repair Procedures listed.

PARTS REQUIRED:
1 PRNODL Switch >> 4671019 <<

>> REPAIR PROCEDURE: <<
This repair involves the replacement of the PRNODL Switch.
1. Check transmission fluid level and condition.
2. Connect the DRB II to the vehicle and record any fault codes.
3. Erase any fault codes.
4. With the ignition switch in the off position, disconnect the battery negative cable.

7. Connect the PRNODL switch wire connector to the switch.
8. Connect the battery negative cable.
ROAD TEST DIAGNOSIS:
1. Road test the vehicle in overdrive for (10 miles) to assure transmission has reached normal operating temperature and all gear ranges have been used.
2. After road test connect the DRB II to the vehicle and check for any fault codes and repair as required.
