Seat Belt Disconnected From Floor Anchor When In Stowed Position



NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 7 PASSENGER BENCH SEATS. CARAVAN/VOYAGER BUILT PRIOR TO MDH 09-19-XX (SEP. 19, 1991). GRAND CARAVAN/GRAND VOYAGER/TOWN & COUNTRY BUILT PRIOR TO MDH 01-15-XX (JAN. 15, 1992)

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

The right (outboard) side seat belt for the center (2 passenger) bench seat may become disconnected from the floor anchor while the belt is in its stowed position (typically when attached to the floor velcro patch). This occurs if an occupant steps on the latch and simultaneously slides the belt forward off the anchor when entering or exiting the rear seat position.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This repair involves replacement of the right (outboard) seat belt anchor escutcheon with a revised escutcheon.



1. Unlatch the center (2 passenger) bench seat and set aside to gain access to the floor escutcheon.





2. Remove the plastic snap-in striker cover and replace the escutcheon, as illustrated, with the appropriate escutcheon called out in PARTS REQUIRED.

3. Install the center (2 passenger) bench seat.

WARNING:
AFTER INSTALLING THE BENCH SEAT, ENSURE ALL BRACKETS ARE SECURELY LATCHED.
