Snapping Noise From Manual Vent Window Latch

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Some manual vent window latch(s) may exhibit a "snapping/clicking" noise. This condition is usually experienced when the window(s) is (are) in the closed position and the vehicle is being driven on a rough road or any other condition that would twist the body.

DIAGNOSIS:

Ensure the latch is not loosely attached or damaged. Listen for the "snapping/clicking" noise while the vehicle is driven over an uneven or rough surface.

NOTE:
THE ABOVE LISTED PARTS HAVE BEEN REVISED AND CAN BE IDENTIFIED BY AN * BELOW THE MOLDED IN PART NUMBER, SEE THE ILLUSTRATION ON THE NEXT PAGE. THE REVISED PARTS ENTERED PRODUCTION 11-16-92 WITHOUT * AND WITH * 12-21-92.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This bulletin involves replacing one or more of the manual vent window latches.

1. Remove the latch or latches found to be noisy in the diagnosis.

2. Install the revised latch or latches. Torque the screws attaching the body half of the latches to 85 inch pounds (9.6 N-m). Torque the screw attaching the glass half of the latch to 60 inch pounds (6.8 N-m).
