Power Transistor Inspection

IGNITION POWER TRANSISTOR

NOTE: An analog circuit tester should be used.

1. Connect the negative (-) terminal of the 1.5V power supply to terminal 5 of the ignition power transistor; then check whether there is continuity between terminal 5 and terminal 12 when terminal 6 and the positive (+) terminal are disconnected or connected.

NOTE: Connect the negative (-) probe of the circuit tester to terminal 12.

NOTE:
Terminal 6 and (+) terminal - Connected = Continuity between terminals 5 and 12

Terminal 6 and (+) terminal - Unconnected = No continuity between terminals 5 and 12

2. Replace the ignition power transistor if there is a malfunction.
