Alternator: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. On air conditioned models, remove A/C drive belt and four bolts/nuts attaching compressor bracket, then without disconnecting A/C refrigerant lines, position A/C compressor to allow alternator removal.
3. On all models, remove alternator drive belt and two alternator mounting bolts, then move alternator to gain wire connectors access.
4. On models equipped with Bosch alternator, remove B+ terminal nut, field terminal nuts and ground harness hold-down nuts, then remove wire connector assembly.
5. On models equipped with Nippondenso alternator, remove field terminals, ground terminal, wire harness and B+ terminal nuts. B+ terminal nut must be removed las, to prevent terminal insulator damage.
6. On all models, remove alternator from vehicle.
7. Reverse procedure to install.
