Radio Removal and Installation Procedure Correction And BSR Concerns
MODELS:
1994 (AS) Town & Country/Caravan/Voyager
DISCUSSION:
Numerous Buzz/Squeak/Rattle (BSR) reduction materials are present in the instrument panel. Care must be taken so the effectiveness of these materials is not reduced whenever the radio is removed and reinstalled. BSR complaints have a very large impact on customer perception of quality and customer satisfaction indexes, i.e., J.D. Power.
The following comments correspond and are in addition to the step numbers of the radio removal procedure listed on page 8F-12 of the 1994 Town & Country/Caravan/Voyager Service Manual (Publication No. 81-370-4105) and must be followed to ensure that BSR's are not created whenever the radio is removed and reinstalled.
1. Inspect the top cover attaching clips (7 - P/N 6503157 and 4 - P/N 4678102) to ensure they are present and securely seated.
2. Inspect the cluster grille attaching clips (3 - P/N 4678185) to ensure they are present and securely seated.
3. Inspect the hood and message center assembly attaching clips ( 3 - P/N 4678185) to ensure they are present and securely seated.
4. Inspect the center bezel attaching clips (4 - P/N 6503157) to ensure they are present and securely seated.
5. Cigar lighter removal is not necessary.
a) Remove the three instrument panel cluster bezel screws on the bottom of the bezel and the three at the upper left. Pull up and toward the rear of the vehicle to remove the bezel (refer to Figure 4 on Page 8F-12 in the Service Manual).
b) Disconnect the wiring connectors from the pod switches.
C) Inspect the instrument panel cluster bezel to ensure all BSR reduction materials (flocked tape, polyethylene/clear tape and foam tape) are present and securely attached to the bezel. Refer to the illustration in this bulletin for proper locations.
NOTE:
IF REPLACEMENT TAPE IS NEEDED, ORDER BSR TAPE PACKAGE P/N 4773592.
