Oil Charge Additions

If there are no signs of external oil leakage, proceed as follows to add oil to system during component replacement.
1. Discharge system as outlined in Heating and Air Conditioning/Testing and Inspection, and measure amount of oil collected in discharge container. The amount of oil collected when discharging system must be replaced with new refrigeration oil to maintain proper oil charge.

2. Remove defective components. Measure amount of oil remaining in compressor, if removed.
3. Add correct amount of oil to components
4. Install replacement components, then evacuate and recharge system.
