Fuel Filter: Service and Repair

1. Relieve fuel system pressure as outlined in Fuel Pressure Release Procedure.
2. On AWD models, remove converter support bracket and exhaust pipe heat shield.
3. On FWD models, remove fuel filter retaining screw.
4. On all models, loosen outlet and inlet hose clamps on filter.
5. Wrap a shop towel around hoses to absorb fuel then remove hoses from filter.
6. On AWD models, remove fuel filter retaining screw.
7. On all models, remove and discard fuel filter and hose clamps from vehicle.
8. Reverse procedure to install, noting following:
a. Mount filter and torque mounting bolt to 6 ft. lbs. prior to tightening hose clamps.
b. Torque hose clamps to 10 inch lbs.
