1. Remove battery and drain cooling system, then remove upper crossmember and top core support.
2. Remove transmission oil cooler and recover A/C system, then remove serpentine belt as outlined under "Serpentine Drive Belt."
3. Remove A/C compressor with lines attached and position aside, then remove condenser, washer bottle and overflow bottle.
4. Disconnect upper radiator hose, then remove fan and shroud.
5. Disconnect lower radiator hose, then remove radiator.
6. Remove generator with wire connections, then the air cleaner box.
7. Release fuel pressure as outlined under "Fuel System Pressure Relief in Precautions."
8. Disconnect throttle linkage and remove throttle body, then remove intake manifold as outlined under "Intake Manifold, Replace."
9. Remove distributor cap and wiring.
10. Disconnect heater hoses, power steering hoses, transmission cooler lines and fuel lines.
11. Remove shift lever.
12. Raise and support vehicle, then drain engine oil and remove front engine mount through bolt nuts.
13. Remove transmission cooler line brackets from oil pan, then disconnect exhaust pipe at manifold.
14. Disconnect starter wires, then remove starter, dust shield and transmission cover.
15. Remove propeller shaft, then support transmission and remove rear transmission support.
16. Remove crossmember and clutch slave cylinder, then disconnect all wiring and connectors.
17. Support engine, then remove transmission bolts and transmission, bellhousing, clutch assembly and flywheel and ring gear assembly.
18. Lower vehicle.
19. Install a suitable engine lifting fixture. Do not lift engine by intake manifold.
20. Remove engine from vehicle.
21. Reverse procedure to install.
