Compressed Natural Gas Warnings and Safety Precautions

COMPRESSED NATURAL GAS WARNINGS AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

^ The fuel system should be serviced only by qualified natural gas vehicle technicians.

^ Unlike gasoline vapor, natural gas is lighter than air. If a leak occurs, it will tend to collect in enclosed high areas. This will quickly form a highly combustible mixture.

^ A fire or explosion could result if a source of ignition or flame is present with natural gas in an unventilated area. Provide proper ventilation when servicing this vehicle.

^ If a fuel leak is determined to exist, do not bring the vehicle into an unventilated area.

^ Do not weld any part of the fuel cylinders or any other fuel system component.

^ If the fuel cylinder covering has unraveled, do not refill the cylinder.

^ Do not modify any fuel system component or replace any component with parts that do not meet Chrysler corporation requirements.

^ Do not paint or undercoat any fuel system component.

^ Do not force open or tamper with any fuel tubes or valves. A sudden release of high pressure gas may occur resulting in bodily injury.

^ The vehicle must not be exposed to excessive heat or open flames.

^ The vehicle may not be placed in a paint oven as the fuel cylinders are equipped with pressure relief devices that will vent to atmosphere at approximately 103°C (217°F).

^ Fuel systems that may have been damaged due to an accident must be inspected. The fuel system must be pressure tested before the vehicle may be returned to service.

^ Any fuel system component that has been subjected to fire may not be returned to service due to its potentially reduced pressure capability.

^ The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) requires that the fuel cylinders be retested every three years from the date of manufacture. The fuel cylinders expire and must be removed from service fifteen (15) years from the date of manufacture. A label affixed to the fuel filler door states the first cylinder retest date and cylinder expiration date.

^ Fuel the vehicle using a compatible fill nozzle as specified on the label inside the fuel filler door. Do not fuel the vehicle with any other type of nozzle.

^ Before any part of the fuel system is opened for repair, the system must be purged of all natural gas. Refer to General Purging Instructions. Component Tests and General Diagnostics
