Air Injection Pump: Description and Operation
OPERATIONAir is drawn through a remote filter mounted near front of vehicle, where foreign materials are removed. The pump forces this filtered air downstream where it is injected into the catalytic converter. This assists the oxidation process in the catalyst but does not interfere with exhaust gas recirculation. Excessive pressure in the system is vented by the air relief valve.
