**NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES BUILT PRIOR TO JANUARY 1, 1995 (MDH 01-01-XX).**

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Rattle or clunk felt in steering column while driving on bumpy or rough road surfaces, or while making a turn.

DIAGNOSIS:

Perform inspection of front suspension and steering components, including a check of all fasteners for proper torque as specified in the appropriate Service Manual. Test drive the vehicle on a rough or bumpy road. With both hands on the steering wheel, feel for a clunk or listen for a rattling type noise. If felt or heard, follow the repair procedure.

**NOTE:
THE REPAIR PROCEDURE WILL NOT RESOLVE CONCERNS ON VEHICLES BUILT AFTER JANUARY 1, 1995 (MDH 01-01-XX). FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSIS REFER TO STEERING AND SUSPENSION DIAGNOSIS.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This bulletin involves the replacement of the steering column and intermediate shaft on 1994 models and the replacement of only the column on 1995 models.

1. Follow the Steering Wheel/Air Bag Removal & Installation Procedures as specified in Suspension and Steering.
2. A new pinch bolt (P/N 6503210) should be installed whenever the intermediate shaft is disconnected from the steering column or the steering gear.
3. Follow the Steering Column and Intermediate Shaft Removal & Installation Procedures as specified in Suspension and Steering.

POLICY: Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty.
