Rattling/Clunk Type Noise from Front of Vehicle

THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO 1994 VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 4X4 AND 4X2 CAB CHASSIS, AND 1995 VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 4X4 AND 4X2 CAB CHASSIS BUILT WITHOUT TAPERED [1][2]BALL STUD LINKS THAT ARE ATTACHED TO THE STABILIZER BAR WITH A CASTLE NUT AND COTTER PIN.

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Rattling or clunk type noise from front of vehicle.

DIAGNOSIS:

Verify that the [1][2]ball stud link is the straight type and then proceed with the repair
procedure. If vehicle is equipped with the [1][2]ball stud links, it has the most current
components and the bulletin does not apply.

1 52038925 Stabilizer Bar 8800 + 10,500 GVW 4x4 and 4x2,4x4 Cab Chassis

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This bulletin involves replacement of both stabilizer links with tapered [1][2]ball stud links, along with the replacement of the stabilizer bar with one with tapered holes.

1. Raise and support the vehicle.

2. Disconnect the stabilizer bar links from the axle brackets.

3. Disconnect the stabilizer bar from the links.

4. Disconnect the stabilizer bar clamps from the frame rails and remove the stabilizer bar. Discard or return as required the old stabilizer bar and links.

5. Position the new stabilizer bar on the frame rail and install clamps and bolts. Ensure the bar is centered with equal spacing on both sides. Tighten the bolts to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.).




6. Install link on stabilizer bar and torque castle nut to 50 ft. lbs. Install cotter pin.

7. Remove supports and lower the vehicle.
