NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles built with the standard duty NV35OO manual transmission, built prior to Nov. 1, 1995 (MDH 11-01-XX).
DISCUSSION:
A new shift tower has been released for the NV3500 Manual Transmission. When servicing transmissions built within the parameters above, it will be necessary to use the following new parts:
Dakota (AN) 4874193 Shift Tower Assembly Figure 1
Ram Truck (BR) 4874194 Shift Tower Assembly Figure 2
Minor revisions have been made to the installation procedure.
^ The isolator plate from the old shift tower assembly should be discarded. It will not be needed with the new shift tower assembly.
^ When installing the new shift tower assembly, it is very important that the housing surface be clean and free of dirt and lubricants.
^ The new shift tower assembly must be installed with no sealant of any kind and with the transmission in 3rd or 4th gear position.
The installation process can be completed by following the procedures found in the appropriate Service Manual in Group 21 NV3500 Manual Transmission.
