Tailgate Latch Handle Escutcheon Loose

NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES BUILT FROM MDH 08-30-XX THROUGH MDH 09-08-XX.

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

The tailgate latch handle escutcheon is loose in the tailgate. The hole in the tailgate was stamped slightly oversized.

DIAGNOSIS:

If the vehicle was built during the suspect period, inspect the tailgate latch handle escutcheon. If loose, perform the repair procedure.

PARTS REQUIRED:

1 4467709 Mopar Bond-All Gel Adhesive

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This bulletin involves gluing the tailgate latch handle escutcheon to the sheetmetal.

1. Lift and hold tailgate latch release handle.

2. Using a trim stick, P/N C4755, pry bottom of escutcheon outward to disengage clips.

3. Rotate escutcheon upward to disengage clip above release handle.

4. Lift escutcheon upward from behind release handle.





5. Separate escutcheon from vehicle (See Illustration).

CAUTION:
ONCE BOND-ALL IS APPLIED To CLIPS, ESCUTCHEON MUST BE REINSTALLED IMMEDIATELY. DO NOT ALLOW BOND-ALL TO SET BEFORE INSTALLING.

6. Apply Mopar Bond-All to the escutcheon clips and carefully work escutcheon back into place by reversing the preceding steps. Hold firmly in place for 20 seconds.
