Thermostat: Service and Repair
1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then drain cooling system until coolant level is below thermostat.
2. Remove intake manifold to alternator support rod, upper radiator hose clamp and upper radiator hose.
3. Disconnect electrical connectors on thermostat housing, then remove six bolts, housing and gasket. Discard gasket.
4. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. If rubber thermostat seal requires replacement, coat metal portion of new seal with suitable gasket maker.
b. Tighten thermostat housing bolts to specifications.
