Condition B

Condition B repair involves repairing the cracked tailgate and refinishing the repaired area.

1. Remove the upper bed liner molding from the tailgate (if equipped).

2. Protect all surrounding areas with welding blankets.

3. Prep the cracked area and the area around the flange to sidewall by grinding away all paint E-coat, and any corrosion that has formed around the cracked area (Figure 7).

4. Drill stop crack(s).

5. Mig Weld the crack and the flange to sidewall as necessary.

NOTE:
THE FLANGE TO SIDEWALL WELD MUST BE AT LEAST 10 MM LONG.

6. Smooth and dress weld as necessary.

7. Clean, feather edge, prime, paint, and clearcoat the section as necessary.

8. After paint has dried, apply Mopar Rustproofing And Sealant P/N J8993799 to inside of tailgate through latch openings.

9. Install upper bed liner molding onto the tailgate (if equipped).
