Emissions Maintenance Light: Service and Repair
After the recommended maintenance has been performed, the mileage counter in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) must be reset. Reseting the Service Reminder Indicator (SRI) light without performing the required maintenance may be in violation of federal law. Only after performing the required maintenance, should the SRI light be reset.Resetting the SRI light requires the use of the DRBII or equivalent scan tool. SEE Powertrain Management/Computers and Control Systems/Testing and Inspection/Procedures.
If the PCM is ever replaced, the current mileage must be entered into memory of the new controller.
The manufacturer recommends performing the following procedures at these intervals:
60,000 miles
Replace EGR Valve
Replace EGR Tube (if equipped)
Clean EGR passage
