Ignition System Precautions

CAUTION:
- Avoid creating an arc between an ignition spark source and any fuel related component.

- Do not crank the engine if there is a fuel leak or spillage present.

- Battery must be fully charged to accurately analyze the ignition system.

- Turn ignition OFF before removing or installing the harness connector to the control unit.

- If the engine is cranked with distributer removed realign timing marks when installing the distributor.

- When testing with probes, always use proper adapters--puncturing wires can cause high resistance or short to ground.

- Do not leave spark plug disconnected any longer than necessary while testing vehicles with catalytic converters--heat damage to catalytic converter will occur.
