Service Procedure For 1995 and 1996 BR Trucks
1. Locate and identify the transmission cooler pressure line assembly (Figure 2).
2. Remove the drainback valve hose and quick connect assembly from the transmission cooler pressure tube.
3. Disconnect the drainback valve hose and quick connect assembly from the radiator. Follow the Procedure to Separate Quick Connects.
4. Connect the provided drainback valve hose and quick connect assembly to the radiator. Follow the Quick Connect Installation Procedure.
5. Install the provided drainback valve hose and quick connect assembly onto the transmission cooler pressure tube. Tighten the tube nut to 140 in-lbs (16 N.m) for V6 and V8 engines. For V10 engines, tighten the tube nut to 450 in-lbs (50 N.m).
6. Raise the vehicle on an appropriate hoist.
7. Disconnect the transmission cooler pressure tube from the clip above the starter (V6 and V8) or the brackets attached to the engine (V10).
NOTE:
If the transmission cooler pressure tube has been modified and the vehicle is equipped with a cold weather by-pass kit, no repair is required at the transmission. Proceed to Step 13.
8. Disconnect the transmission cooler pressure tube from the transmission. Follow the Procedure to Separate Quick Connects.
9. Remove quick connect from the transmission and discard.
10. Install the provided quick connect into the transmission. Tighten the transmission quick connect to 225 in-lbs (25 N.m).
11. Connect the transmission cooler pressure tube to the new transmission quick connect. Follow the Quick Connect Installation Procedure.
12. Reconnect the tube into the retaining clip or brackets.
13. Lower the vehicle.
14. Start the engine and check for any pressure line assembly transmission fluid leaks.
15. Check the transmission fluid level and adjust as necessary.
