Pinout Values and Diagnostic Parameters

Fig. 3 Engine Controller 60-way Connector Terminal Identification:

1. Disconnect 60-way connector at engine controller, then remove speed control switch and disconnect 4-way connector.
2. Inspect continuity between Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connector terminal No. 23, and speed control switch harness terminal No. 4. If no continuity is present, then repair wire circuit as necessary. If continuity is satisfactory, then preform speed control switch test.
3. Connect 4-way connector to speed control switch, then connect negative lead of voltmeter to body ground near PCM connector and place ignition switch in On position.
4. Place speed control switch in Off position, then place positive lead of voltmeter to terminal No. 53 of PCM connector. Voltmeter should indicate zero volts.
5. With speed control switch in the On position, voltmeter should indicate battery voltage.
6. If voltage is not as specified, then inspect for voltage at terminal No. 3 of speed control servo. If on voltage is present preform speed control servo test. If voltage is satisfactory, then repair wire between terminal No. 3 of servo and terminal No. 5 of PCM connector.
7. Place positive lead of voltmeter to terminal No. 33 of PCM connector. With the speed control switch in the Off position, voltmeter should indicate zero volts.
8. With speed control switch in the On position, voltmeter should indicate battery voltage.
9. If no voltage is present, then inspect for voltage at terminal No. 4 of servo. If no voltage is present, then preform speed control servo test. If voltage is satisfactory, then repair wire between terminal No. 33 of PCM connector and terminal No. 4 of servo.
10. Using an ohmmeter, connect one lead to body ground, then to terminal 29 of PCM connector With the brake pedal released, the meter should indicate continuity. When pedal is depressed, the meter should indicate no continuity. If no continuity is present proceed as follows:
a. Inspect for continuity between terminal No. 29 of PCM connector and terminal No. 1 of stop lamp switch connector.
b. If no continuity is present, then repair as necessary.
c. If continuity is present, then preform stop lamp test.
d. If stop lamp test is satisfactory, then test continuity between terminal No. 2 of stop lamp switch and ground.
11. Touch one lead of ohmmeter to a good body ground and the other lead to terminal 30.
12. With transmission in D, meter should show continuity. When in P or N, meter should not show continuity.
13. If above results are not measured, test neutral start and back-up switch using DRB scan tool.
