Fig. 27 Checking oil pump endplay:

1. Measure the following oil pump clearances:
a. Endplay. Endplay should be 0.001 - 0.003 inch.

Fig. 28 Oil pump outer rotor thickness measurement:

b. Outer rotor thickness. Thickness should be 0.944 inch minimum. Install outer rotor with chamfered edge in pump body.

Fig. 29 Oil pump rotor clearance measurement:

c. Clearance between rotors should be 0.008 inch maximum.

Fig. 30 Oil pump outer rotor clearance measurement:

d. Outer rotor clearance. Clearance should be 0.014 inch maximum.

Fig. 31 Oil pump cover clearance measurement:

e. Oil pump cover clearance should be no greater than 0.003 inch.

Oil Pressure Relief Spring:

f. Oil pressure relief valve spring length should be 1.95 inches. Spring load should be 20 lbs. at 1.34 inches.

Measuring Inner Rotor Thickness:

g. Inner rotor thickness: 0.9435 minimum.
