Jump-Starting, Vehicle Equipped With Theft Security System
JUMP-STARTING, VEHICLE EQUIPPED WITH THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM.After the booster Battery has been connected, the Theft System must be turned OFF. Using the Remote Entry transmitters will turn the Theft System OFF. The remainder of the Jump-Starting procedure can be followed.
If this procedure is not followed, the Theft Security System electronics will prevent the engine from starting.
Whenever the battery is disconnected and connected or a dead battery the Security System enters armed mode. To exit this mode, press the transmitter unlock button before attempting to starting engine. Once the remote entry receiver is armed, it will stay armed even if battery voltage is removed.
If a new Powertrain Control Module is installed, the ignition switch has to be turned to the start (crank engine) position 20 times before the alarm system will function.
