System Inspection

NOTE: A careful and thorough visual inspection may quickly identify the cause of a malfunction and eliminate the need for diagnostic testing.

1. If the airbag module housing shows signs of damage or abuse, replace the module.
2. Ensure both front impact sensors are properly installed to the upper crossmember of the radiator closure panel.
3. Check the airbag warning lamp for proper operation as follows:
a. Turn ignition switch to the On position.
b. If the airbag warning lamp does not light, test the system using a scan tool.
c. If the airbag warning lamp lights, but fails to go out after ten seconds, test the system using a scan tool.
d. Repair the system as necessary.
