Output Seal & Flange Replacement

REMOVAL
1. Mark rear cover relationship to case for installation alignment.
2. Remove rear cover attaching bolts and cover.
3. Remove output flange attaching nut.
4. Mark pinion relationship to flange for installation alignment.
5. Using suitable hydraulic press, remove output flange from pinion.
6. Using suitable hammer and chisel, remove output seal.
7. If output flange is replaced, install a new shim.

INSTALLATION
1. Using seal tool No. 5049, or equivalent, install seal.
2. If original flange is used, align marks, then press flange on pinion.
3. If new flange is used, select a new shim that protrudes same distance from new flange as original shim protruded from original flange. Use a feeler gauge to measure protrusion distances.
4. Install flange nut and tighten to specifications.
5. Install rear cover and tighten bolts to specifications. Use care not to damage O-ring.
6. Install propeller shaft and tighten to specifications.
7. Check and fill fluids as required.
