Verification Test VER-3A - Charging System Verification

NOTE: Before proceeding, visually ensure all engine components are connected. Assemble and connect components as necessary.

IF THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE HAS BEEN CHANGED, DO THE FOLLOWING:

1. If the vehicle is equipped with a vehicle theft security system, start the vehicle at least 20 times so that the alarm system may be activated when desired.

2. Connect a scan tool to the PCM data link connector and erase the codes.

OTHERWISE VERIFY PROPER CHARGING SYSTEM OPERATION:

1. Start the engine.

2. Increase engine speed to 2,000 rpm for at least 30 seconds.

3. Allow the engine to idle.

4. Turn the engine OFF.

5. Turn the ignition key ON.

6. Read trouble code messages using a scan tool.

- If the repaired code has reset, or another one has set, check all pertinent Technical Service Bulletins and return to TEST TC-1A if necessary.

- If there are no codes, the repair is now complete.
